This is our 30 note, folding glockenspiel, complete with carry case and beaters. When folded up and in the case it's nice and easy to transport and store, making it a more convenient choice than non-folding models, and a great all round percussion instrument. Glockenspiels are a great instrument for the beginner as they do not require any special techniques to get going, they are also commonly used by pros in virtually all musical genres. Generally a very versatile instrument.
Strictly speaking, it's not a percussion instrument, but these are usually used by percussionists in Latin American, and also in other popular music. Also great for carnivals, parties, festivals etc.
Hold the metal bar in one hand and slap the ball with the palm of your other hand. This causes metal teeth to vibrate in the wooden block giving a distinctive rattle.
These instruments are commonly used in Latin American music but are also often heard in other popular music. They are played by making both fast and slow strokes with the scraper over the notched part which makes a rasping sound. Like maracas and tambourines they are an excellent choice for vocalists and dancers to play.
